The brain and Nervous System pays a critical role in monitoring the health of and facilitating the repair of every single cell, tissue, organ, muscle and joint in the body. The healing is done by the body under the direction of the brain which monitors all of the functions of the body and the health of the body. When we rest, the brain automatically tries to repair the damaged cells and tissues.
Given the brain is the best physician for the body why do so many suffer poor health and why do some 5 out of 6 Australians die due to disease that is preventable? The situation is that the symptoms are in fact the body alerting us to a problem in the body that it has been unable to fix. One reason for the brain being unable to do its job of repair and maintenance is that there may be some blockage in the nervous system or possibly some lowering of function in some part of the brain.
The manifestation of the symptom could be seen as the bodies alarm bell that something is wrong in the body. Often times the medical approach is to treat the symptom. What really is required is to look at what the underlying cause is, that is what is preventing the brain & body doing what it does best – which is to heal, repair & maintain every cell & tissue in the body.
This is where Chiropractic Neuro-rehabilitation and Chiropractic come in.
Chiropractic Neuro-rehabilitation techniques enable the practitioner to diagnose the level of blockage or reduced function in the brain and or central nervous system and after extensive diagnosis to provide individually specific exercise, and/or adjustments to help correct for any spinal subluxations.
Chiropractic Neuro-rehabilitation techniques used are drug free. After extensive diagnosis of the imbalance or level of reduced function, Chiropractic Neurorehabilitation (aka functional neurology) uses specific cognitive exercises and multi-sensory stimulations designed to increase responsiveness. Dr Robyn is a diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (she holds a USA issued certificate DACNB-USA). In Australia there are no Chiropractic specialities. Dr Robyn uses her knowledge for Chiro neuro rehab. Dr Robyn is not a medical neurologist.
"Certain conditions are more customarily seen by a chiropractic neurologist, as opposed to a medical neurologist, and vice versa. Specifically, our people see patients with a variety of movement disorders, dystonia, post stroke rehabilitation, and radiculopathy or nerve entrapment syndromes that are consequences of peripheral or central types of lesions". - Dr. Carrick of Carrick Institute US. interview with NeuroPractice - a professional magazine for medical neurologists.

Dr. Carrick sees new opportunities ahead for a cooperative relationship between medical neurologists and chiropractic neurologists as greater emphasis is placed on patient outcomes and appropriateness of services. "Certainly, our training is similar. There may even be an intertwining of disciplines to some extent in coming years," he told NeuroPractice magazine. "Recently a large percentage of medical doctors have been enrolling in our chiropractic neurology training programs. We have several physicians, neurologists, orthopaedists (orthopaedic surgeons), neurosurgeons who travel from Europe and Asia for the training. We're really pleased that it seems that our brand of neurological application is being accepted as complementary to medicine and occupational, physical, therapeutic modalities, and that it is in concert with what seems to be the direction of research and intervention for a variety of conditions."
