Today my wife, Dr Robyn encouraged me to see the movie ‘Eat Pray Love’ with her. She had first read the book about 10 months ago while we were holidaying in Italy, and was constantly talking about the book ‘Eat Pray Love’ during our holiday. So when the movie was released it was no wonder that she was really keen to see the movie. I was somewhat reluctant to see the movie, saying that I didn’t particularly want to see a movie about someone else having a holiday, nevertheless when we were at the cinema I chose to go to ‘Eat Pray Love’ with Robyn.
Well I’m really glad because not having read the book, I found the movie ‘Eat Pray Love’ excellent. To me it does a great job of pulling together some universal truths that we all could benefit from. After the movie Robyn and I sat in the cinema and chatted for several minutes. I must say I felt quite moved by the simple universal truths in the movie My emotion was picked up by Robyn immediately and we had a big hug.
The universal truths in ‘Eat Pray Love’ that struck a cord with me included:
-
to be open to differences in people
-
to be open to differences in culture
-
to be open to the wisdom of centuries of learning
-
to be open to enlightenment
-
to be open to the possibilities of learning in every encounter
-
to be open to the possibility that people we meet may be our guides
- to not perseverate - instead if we think of those we have hurt send thoughts of joy and peace and let it go
-
to find your inner peace
-
to be open to trusting and loving all your life journey
-
to know that even hurt and pain will pass
- to forgive and to love oneself
-
to find the universal good that exists in most
So as with Elizabeth Gilberts Italian word attraversiamo – let’s cross over – to a life filled with endless possibilities and all the love that you desire.
